Alpena Senior Citizens Center & ACES Partner Together After Receiving $200,000 Grant from Michigan Health Endowment Fund
The Alpena Senior Citizens Center just received a $200,000 grant from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund. The center will be partnering with Alpena Public Schools, ACES Academy to create a new program, ‘Project Student Gourmet,’ adding a greenhouse to cook healthy meals for seniors.
The huge collaboration will be a great interaction both for seniors and students. The grant will provide a greenhouse to grow fresh herbs, vegetables and more. The students will learn kitchen skills working within a 5-work station kitchen, to create healthy menus while becoming serve safe certified.
