Alpena Rolls Past Cedarville in 50-42 Victory

ALPENA, MI – The Alpena Wildcats girls basketball team pulled away with the 50-42 win over the Cedarville Islanders on Wednesday night.

Alpena’s offense struggled in the first quarter trailing 7-6. The momentum started to pick up in the second with Reese Wisniewski tallying up points for the Wildcats. Wisniewski finished the quarter with 11 points, and Alpena led 26-19 going into halftime.

The Wildcats went into the fourth quarter with a comfortable 40-25 lead, but the Islanders did not give up. Cedarville went on a 9-0 run in the fourth, but the Wildcats held on to secure the 50-42 win.

Wisniewski led Alpena with 20 points and Avery Dubey followed with 10. Cedarville was led by Lily Plowman and Taylor Williams. Plowman clocked in 17 points and Williams finished with 11.

The Wildcats host Traverse City West on Friday at 6 p.m.
