ALPENA, MI. – Bond funded work is taking place at Thunder Bay Junior High, Sanborn Elementary and Hinks Elementary this summer.  Projects are focused on fulfilling the promises of the bond campaign that area voters passed in Spring 2020 to keep students warm, safe and dry. Returning students and staff at these three schools will notice significant improvements to each of the campuses.

Thunder Bay Junior High

  • Science lab electrical circuit upgrades

  • Dry fire suppression system main line and head replacement in zones

  • Secure entry/vestibule upgrade

  • Key card access system

  • Bottle fill drinking fountains being installed

Sanborn

  • Roof replacement with added insulation

  • Secure entry/vestibule upgrade

  • Parking lot and drop off improvements

  • Bottle fill drinking fountains being installed

  • Student bathroom renovations

  • Partial flooring replacement (through ESSER Funds)

  • Security Camera System

Hinks

  • Roof replacement with added insulation
