Alpena High School’s Team 5505 Wins Traverse City’s Robotics Tournament

This past weekend team 55–05 from Alpena high school won the traverse city district’s first robotics tournament.

On Saturday, April 8th, two talented teams from Alpena High School– team 5505 and team 5230– competed in the Traverse City district’s first Robotics Tournament. They competed against different teams and each other. However, despite them being each other’s competitor, they didn’t hesitate to lend a helping hand when needed.

Team 5505 conquered the competition and took the championship honors. As for team 5230, although they didn’t win, they’re proud that they’ve made it this far. Both team 5505 and 5230 earned enough points to compete in the Michigan State Regional Tournament. They’ll be competing with about one hundred and sixty teams.

“It’s awesome being apart of a big team like this. We’re a smaller town with a smaller team but we’re right up there competing with some of the big cities so it feels awesome,” says Christian Stevens, member of Team 5505.

The regional tournament will take place this Thursday at Saginaw Valley State University.
