Alpena High School Holds College & Career Fair

Alpena High School held their annual College & Career Fair tonight in their gymnasium.

Over 50 universities, trade schools, vocational programs and military organizations were in attendance to give high schoolers a preview into what their institutions can offer. Lots of students and their parents were in attendance to get a look at all the tables and learn new information about each program. Counselor Mary Daoust says the students appreciate the resources they are given. “I think they appreciate the fact that people come from all over the state, and out of state, to come and talk to them, and help out with their decision making,” Daoust said. “For the most part, the students ask good questions, and are surprised at some of the schools that show up and have certain programs.”

Ted Johnson, who is in Alpena High School’s early college program, appreciates the different schools and universities that have the program he’s interested in. “It helps a lot with seeing my opportunities, also not missing out on scholarships, I know that’ll help me big time money–wise, because going to school and college can be expensive,” he said.
