TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — During the summer, Alpena golfer Kennedy Ellis had the opportunity to compete in the Traverse City Junior Golf Association (TCJGA) tour. The tour consists of 10 tournaments. With her positive attitude and passion to the game, she was awarded the TCJGA “Spirit of the Game” award.
Not only that, in the tour’s 36 hole championship, Ellis placed third in the elite girls division. In the first round she got off to a slow start, finishing the round with a 101. However, Ellis played a lot better in the final round as she capped off the tournament with a 93.
This upcoming year, she will be a senior at Alpena High. Ellis and the Wildcats golf team will start preparing for the upcoming season on Aug. 12.
