A concerning call made to Alpena Public Schools on Tuesday prompted yet another police response.
A voicemail was left for the central office from an elementary school student claiming to be a parent. He said his son had brought a firearm to school and was also bringing ammunition in order to intimidate someone. The Alpena Police Department and Michigan State Police were able to find the student through caller ID and was removed from the classroom.
His belongings were searched and police later searched the parents’ home to see if he had access to any firearms.
Communications Director with APS, Lee Fitzpatrick is urging all parents in the district to speak with their children about making these threats as the school will discipline to fullest extent allowed.
