Alpena County Road Commission approves green light

ALPENA, Mich.— In a recent board meeting at the Alpena Road Commission, green amber lights were approved for purchasing on plow trucks.

The lights are to be added to the top and back of 13 trucks.

The older plowing trucks used by the county are about 10 years old with only yellow blinking lights. According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, the green light is better for eye visibility to aid with making roads safer for motorists.

Gonyea says, here in Alpena the road commission has experienced minor accidents involving a car and plow trucks. Materials and labor maintenance averages to about six hundred dollars per truck.

Orders for the new lights have already been sent out and will be installed as soon as they arrive. Motorists are encouraged to drive attentively when on the road.
