Alpena comes up short against Petoskey 41-55

ALPENA, MI – It’s been a pretty great start of the season for the Wildcats boys basketball team. currently 4–1 on the season, Alpena hosted Petoskey looking to grab their third straight win against the Northmen. Petoskey coming into this game are 3–2 and are hoping for a nice road win against a Big North Conference rival.

This game would be a defensive battle to see who came away with the win. Cooper Bright up top gets the ball. He sends it back to Devin Lamay. Lamay drives in and sends the bounce pass back to Bright who lays it up for Alpena.

Now Petoskey with the ball. Dylan Aldridge sends it to the opposite side of the court where Shane Izzard is wide open to fire a three-pointer and connects from long range.

Now for Alpena its Austin Prue. Fighting his way into the paint, tries for the shot in traffic and gets it to go.

Luke Yyoung now in the corner. Dumps it off to Cooper Bright. Bright then gets it to Mason Mumford. Tries in the corner from mid range and hits the two-pointer.

Lamay once again moving the ball for Alpena. Over to Cooper Bright. Bright goes for the layup, tons of contact, but Bright puts it through picking up the and-one.

Petoskey moving the ball now. Over to the corner is Jackson Jonker. He tries for the three-pointer and sinks it for the Northmen.

Time running low in the first half, Jonker gets the ball with just three seconds remaining. Goes for the buzzer beater three and hits it. Petoskey’s defense was strong tonight while their offense also did well against Aalpena.

Braidon Ewing is gonna get the ball for Petoskey in the paint. He tries in the post but is doubled up. He sends it back out to Dylan Aldridge who shoots it from long range and makes it.

Alpena is unable to get their third straight win as Petoksey would come away with the victory. Final score is 41–55. Alpena will look to try and recover from this loss on Tuesday when they face Sault Area.
