Alpena City Council Meeting Provides Update on Culligan Plaza
The Alpena City Council held a meeting tonight in the city hall building.
One of the items on the agenda was the presentation of the community survey results of the Culligan Plaza renovation. The initial presentation of the renovations took place in September and was met with backlash. The city then put out the survey and allowed the community to have their voice heard on what the plaza should look like. The data has all been gathered and a timeline on the process should be released this month. Mayor Matt Waligora talked about what the process has been like.
“I think just the social media attention to the original model is probably what drove so many people to take the survey and be involved,” he said. “So really, it’s a great learning experience for everybody all the way around, but in the end, it’s going to work out fine.”
The final model is expected to be announced in January of 2023.
