Alpena Chamber still short on funds for Fireworks
The fireworks are part of an annual show that Alpena does each year. However the Chamber of Commerce is still short of their fundraising goal.
President & CEO of the Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce Adam Poll said, “At the moment we’ve raised $19,500 we’re looking to get $23,000 by our deadline which is this coming Monday.”
Whether attending or not, the Alpena fire department urges caution when handling fireworks.
Alpena Fire Captain Andy Marceau said, “Just for the safety reasons we have a perimeter for a reason and just stay out of there these people are very well trained they do a very good job of how they get ready for the fireworks and then a little after 10pm we’ll set those off.”
The final fundraising event is Thursday June 16th from 11am to 2pm at Century 21 Northland on Ripley Blvd. You can either buy a bracelet or make a donation.
