ALDI Grand Opening in Alpena Opens to Much Support from the Community
The grand opening of ALDI was big business in Alpena, with lines wrapped around the building all the way out of the parking lot. ALDI gave away free gifts and prizes that had some people standing in line since before dawn. “We were here at 4:30 a.m. Another couple and us pretty much the first hour. And then people started rolling in and its beautiful, lots of good prices, very clean,” said Emma, Adrianna and Hanna, local ALDI supporters.
“So many people say to me recently that they’re just really thrilled that we’re having ALDI in our community. For those who don’t know, ALDI is the six biggest grocers in the world. They’re a big company, and the fact that they picked us to put in one of their stores, it is really nice. They have a lot of organic options, reasonable price points,” Economic Development Director for Target Alpena, Mike Mahler said. Locals agree, “I think it’s just a really good sign that Alpena is expanding and becoming bigger and better, we wanted to be here to support it. We’re super excited,” said Emma. “I wanted to welcome ALDI to Alpena and it’s so great to be here. Thank you so much for coming to Alpena,” said a local ALDI supporter.
