ACC softball gears up for postseason play

ALPENA, Mich. — The Alpena Community College Ladyjacks softball team will make their postseason debut for the first time since 2010. This Friday, the Ladyjacks will be in Dearborn to battle Henry Ford College in a best of three series.

“We’re very excited and energetic,” said Mollie Girard. “I’m looking forward to playing our hearts out and just having fun.”

Both teams played four games against each other in the regular season. The series between the Hawks and Ladyjacks is tied at 2-2.

“It’s a great opportunity to play against Henry Ford,” Holly Kussrow said. “Our confidence is definitely higher after winning two games against them and getting nine wins to close out the season. Our bats are really popping. As long as we continue that, we should be good.”

The first pitch for game one is set for 1 p.m. Game two will start at approximately 3 p.m. If necessary, the deciding game will be played at around 5 p.m. The winner advances to the district finals on Monday, May 17.
