Week 5 of the MHSAA football season brought a couple of classics in Northeast Michigan.

The Alpena Wildcats (1-4) fell to Petoskey (2-3) at home in a 24-20 battle that went down to the final plays. A late Petoskey stand kept the Wildcats from putting the winning touchdown on the board.

Landon Galea had a performance for the ages for Atlanta (1-4). The receiver was unstoppable as he had his second straight multi touchdown game as the Huskies took down Whittemore-Prescott (2-3), 40-20.

In our game of the week Posen (4-1), took down Mio (3-2) in a 56-48 thriller that went down to the final play. In defeat, Mio QB Austin Fox threw for over 400 yards to go along with six touchdown passes. For Posen Cole Krajniak had a rushing touchdown, a receiving touchdown and recovered a fumble for a touchdown.  Logan Timm intercepted a Fox pass with 4 minutes left. QB Jack Romel followed it up with a TD run that put Posen ahead 56-42. After TD number 6 from Fox, a Mio Hail Mary would fall short and Posen would hang on.

In other action, Au-Gres Sims (4-1) took down Hillman (1-4) 50-6.  Alcona (5-0), continued their rampage through the NSL as they took down Charleton Heston (0-5) 72-14.  Rogers City (5-0) was awarded a forfeit win over Hale (0-5), as Hale did not have enough players to play.
