Alpena — the season of giving is in full swing. Dozens of volunteers are wrapping and sorting gifts for children and adults all over the Sunrise Side for Alpena Community College’s Christmas Wish List program.

the ACC Volunteer Center coordinates this annual operation which has been going on for 40 years! This year, volunteers are wrapping gifts for 458 people.

It’s an exciting time for volunteers like Marilyn Burton who is in her first year as a coordinator for the program. They get to help assemble presents for those in need.

“It makes me feel wonderful,” said Burton. “To see so many needy children in the area and the Alpena school system that needs help and parents and children… I’m glad that they reach out to us.”

Volunteers will be on hand wrapping gifts until Thursday. They expect to wrap 5 to 7,000 presents, all donated by the Alpena area. Distribution takes place next week.

if you’d like to donate some gifts or cash by Thursday, visit the volunteer center website at www.alpenavolunteercenter.org or call 1–888–468–6222 ext. 7271.
