Downtown Alpena Expecting Development of Ice Rink
Residents of Alpena can expect some recreational updates to the city, with the development of an outdoor ice skating rink.
Alpena residents can soon look forward to some recreational upgrades near downtown.
Friends of the Alpena Outdoor Ice Rink have gotten approval to begin construction tomorrow on a new skating rink at Prentiss and Harbor Street.
Melissa Tolan–Halleck, member of the group, says community members can expect the rink to be open as soon as possible.
“We plan on beginning to put the water down tomorrow, and anticipation by potentially the weekend. potentially the weekend. we will have a grand opening at some point with a little more festivities, but as soon as there’s ice, people are welcome to skate on it.
