Young gymnasts show off at APlex

ALPENA, Mich. — Many Alpena parents got to see their child’s hard work on Saturday.

Young gymnasts displayed what they learned during the final day of the APlex’s week–long gymnastics show. From young ninjas going for the best time on the obstacle course to teens nailing their back-flips, everyone was showing off their hard–won skills.

Instructor Jamie Beaubiean says COVID–19, as ever, posed some obstacles. However, dodging obstacles is exactly what gymnasts do.

“It’s definitely decreased the motivation of kids, for sure. I know it was even hard for me to want to come to coaching with this lack of motivation from the COVID  and wanting to stay home. But I think these kids are really pushing through and they’ve shown it through their efforts.”

Registration is still open for summer classes, which start this June.
