ALPENA, Mich. — A fundraiser geared toward promoting justice and equality was held Wednesday at one of Alpena’s downtown restaurants.
The Working For Justice fundraiser was hosted this afternoon in Downtown Alpena’s fresh palate restaurant.
Owner and organizer, Eric Peterson, says the idea for the initiative was sparked from the Black Lives Matter but also from his own personal reflection.
Peterson said the initiative’s purpose is to educate those who unknowingly exhibit behaviors of prejudice.
He also feels everyone is impacted whether directly or indirectly.
Many locals came out to support Peterson’s efforts and shared his initiative’s sentiments.
Tips made will be matched by Fresh Palate and will go toward educational materials to enlighten and inform the community about prejudice.
