Women serving high profile positions in Alpena

ALPENA, Mich.— With some career fields still being male dominated, the Alpena County Prosecutor’s Office is changing the status quo. The Alpena County Prosecutor, Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney and the Assistant Prosecutor titles are all held by women.

Cynthia Muszynski, Nancy Ward and Megan Mckeon work collectively handling local cases. All three women have a background of relevant experience and higher education.

Muszynski heads the department while also tackling administrative duties and serving on local boards in the community. The County Prosecutor said, “As a team they are passionate about their work and believes there is no disadvantage to having women serve in high profile positions.”

Ward is the Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney  approaching a year with the office. She comes from a background in private practice and handles mostly civil cases.

Mckeon is the newest addition to the team authorizing warrants and overseeing misdemeanor cases. Mckeon said, “She’s adjusting smoothly working with mostly women.”
