Wildcats win their first conference game of the season

ALPENA, Mich. — After a heartbreaking loss to Kingsford last Saturday, the Alpena Wildcats ice hockey team were able to bounce back Wednesday with a dominating victory over Gaylord (8-4, 2-3 BNC). Not only the Wildcats won their fourth game of the season, but they picked up there first win in conference play.

Midway through the second period, Jaden Marchlewski put the Wildcats on the board. The freshman was able to get a rebound in front of the crease and shoved it behind the red line. Alpena didn’t stop there. They were able to keep the momentum on their side throughout the remainder of the contest. Anden Marceau’s goal widened their lead to two and Tanner Orban’s two goals sealed the deal.

The Wildcats (4-10-2, 1-2 BNC) and the Blue Devils will square off with each other this Friday in Gaylord. Puck drop is at 6 p.m.
