Wildcats endure first loss of the season
ALPENA, MI — Alpena hockey suffered their first loss of the season Saturday afternoon.
A day after defeating Macomb Dakota in overtime, the Wildcats fell to the Cougars 6-0.
Alpena held Macomb scoreless through 1, but began to fall apart in the second. After Matt Thompson was called for boarding, which resulted in a 5 minute major, the Cougars scored twice. They would score again following a different Alpena penalty seconds after the major expired. By the end of the third period Alpena trailed 4-0.
Macomb Dakota added two more in the third. The game also saw Colby Plowman sent to the showers early following a scrum after the whistle.
The Wildcats have a chance to rebound on Friday when they play in the Gaylord Showcase at noon.
