Wildcats end the regular season with a win over Tawas 68-43

ALPENA, MI – It’s the final game of the season for the Alpena Wildcats Boys Basketball squad before District Playoffs begin on Monday. The Wildcats got a dominating win over Rogers City back on Tuesday, and now they take the court looking for one more victory to build momentum for their first round matchup against Gaylord.

Starting in the first, Easton Srebnik makes the steal and immediately breaks free in transition. He gets the lane for the easy layup and this was his first time in the starting lineup for Alpena and he made his mark in that debut.

Wildcats again with the ball. They made sure to take care of possession and limit the turnovers. The ball gets thrown around until Luke Young is free from his defender and gets the layup try and makes it.

Cooper Bright now in the post finds fellow Senior Mason Mumford down low. Mason takes the close shot and sinks it for Alpena, finishing with 14 points on the night.

Now Austin Prue gets the ball in the corner but quickly moves it back over to Ryan Voltz. Voltz finds Srebnik  who tries for a floater shot and drains that nice shot. Easton put up 15 points in his first starting appearance.

The braves now started putting together some offense. Vinnie Frank drives in then chucks it out to Granite Barringer. He’ll try from long range and that one goes through.

Second half now, Alpena back with it. Easton with the ball, gives Cooper Bright plenty of time to get open. With no one around him, Bright jacks up a triple and cashes that one in for Alpena.

It was another stellar performance from Cooper Bright. Easton makes the pass over to Cooper again, this time in the corner. He fires another deep shot and hits the three yet again. Cooper led the Wildcats with 22.

On defense now, Cooper gets the nice block on Tawas and Voltz picks it up. He makes the behind the back dribble move then does it again with a pass to Nicholas Geister. His shot doesn’t go but Voltz makes the play after those dribble moves and gets the layup.

Alpena caps off the regular season with a win over the Braves. Final score is 68–43. Alpena finishes with a 12–8 overall record heading into Districts and their first round game against the Blue Devils tips off at 7:00.
