Whittemore-Prescott’s Russell Wilson earns 100th career victory

WHITTEMORE, Mich. — Wednesday, Whittemore-Prescott hosted a quad meet that featured Mio, Oscoda, and Kalkaska. Going into the meet, Whittemore-Prescott senior Russell Wilson was three wins shy of 100 career wins. He was in the circle for three matches, and he accomplished that milestone. Wilson ended the meet with two pins and win by forfeit. As soon as Wilson saw an opportunity for a takedown, he was on the attack. Both of his pins took less than 30 seconds.

Wilson says capturing 100 career wins is huge, but he now shifts his focus on wrestling his way to states. “It’s a big accomplishment, but I’m hoping to go to states and place in the top eight. A hundred wins is a lot of hard work. It takes forever, but it’s really cool to accomplish.”
