Whittemore-Prescott Shuts Out Alcona 3-0

ALCONA, MI- The Alcona Tigers hosted the Whittemore-Prescott Cardinals in Volleyball on Thursday.

Starting off in the first set it would be Whittemore-Prescott who would come out to an early lead. A great first touch spike from Allie Schmidt turns a save from the Tigers into points for the Cardinals.

Alcona would fire back later in the set. Sage Gauthier would dive for the ball and it would just tip its way over the net for the point.

The first set would be won by Whittemore-Prescott but Alcona would keep it close. Kaylee Wambold would grab herself a nice service ace for the Tigers.

Despite the tigers keeping the lead small for the Cardinals, they would still pull away in set 2. Allie Schmidt would get another great spike and Whittemore-Prescott would lead 2-0.

Even with this lead though, Alcona would still be right on the heels of the Cardinals. A great set up spike from Angelina Howe would grab the point for the Tigers and near the end of set 3, it would be tied up 24-24.

Alcona would try and steal away the 3rd set and start a comeback but Whittemore-Prescott would just sneak away with the final set with a spike of the tip of the net from Brianne McClure to get the final point.

Alcona would fall to Whittemore-Prescott 3-0. Alcona will travel to face Mio and Whittemore Prescott returns home to face Atlanta both on Thursday.
