Whitecaps restaurant feeling the pressure from the Coronavirus

ALPENA, Mich. — Whitecaps restaurant is still getting used to the new statewide policy changes that are forcing them to refuse dine–in service. They’ve also had to ramp up their cleaning practices. “We wipe everything down and wash our hands every 15 minutes,” said General Manager Wendi Smith. “In the kitchen it’s impeccable. The way that Darrin has taken control of the kitchen. Like he was saying, the surfaces alone and setting timers just as a reminder, you know, lets stop and this is what we need to do now.”

Like many other restaurants, Whitecaps will be implementing a new delivery system later this week, and pick–up orders are still being accepted. Smith added that she understands the new state policies and that cooperation by all Americans will help in battling the virus. “I want, not just our community, but all Americans to take heed and follow what’s being enforced because I think we’ll get through this a lot quicker that way if we just abide by the rules,” she said.

Smith added that they are considering bringing food directly to patron’s cars in the parking lot if they don’t wish to go inside. They will also be providing a free kids meal for every entree sold in order to support kids who are unable to get food at school.
