Washington Park sculpture dedicated, name revealed

ALPENA, Mich. — The Thunder Bay Arts Council officially dedicated their latest sculpture Sunday afternoon.

Plenty of people showed up to see the new artwork’s dedication ceremony. The Arts Council welcomed it with river–themed music, poetry, and a speech.

Artist Jake Idema said that while his sculpture went up on Friday, the ceremony makes him feel like it’s really a part of the city.

The artwork, titled, “The River Intertwined,” is open for interpretation, but was partly inspired by the Thunder Bay River and the Alpena ecosystem.
