Warmth continues Tuesday and late-day chance of snow showers

High temperatures today got up to 44 degrees in Alpena. The warmth is going to continue Tuesday with light winds from the south. We saw partly cloudy skies today, but more cloud clover is expected tomorrow.

Snow showers currently over North Dakota will move east. A chance of snow showers will increase late-day tomorrow and continue into tomorrow evening. Wednesday will then be mostly cloudy and cooler.

Low temperatures overnight will cool to about 20 degrees and skies will become mostly cloudy. Morning temperatures will be in the lower 20s. A chance of snow showers will move in Tuesday afternoon and become more likely in the evening. High temperatures will reach about 40 degrees.

Warm temperatures will continue Tuesday, highs will be near 40 degrees. A few snow showers will likely move through our area late tomorrow. Wednesday will be mostly cloudy and slightly cooler with highs in the upper 30s. Late-day Thursday, another chance of rain or snow showers will arrive.

Taking a look back at February, temperatures were slightly warmer than normal, and total snowfall for the month was near normal. The daily high temperatures averaged to 32 degrees, about 2 degrees warmer than normal. Low temperatures throughout the month averaged to 14 degrees, which is 3 degrees warmer than normal. Snowfall stacked up to 18 inches, near the normal amount for February. (Normal is considered as the 30-year average of 1981-2010.)
