Warmer temperatures will move in Saturday; Cold front brings wind and showers Sunday

A few patchy showers grazed the Alpena area earlier Thursday, and cloudy skies remain overhead. Cloud cover will decrease Friday morning and give way to mostly sunny skies. Saturday will start with sunshine, then more cloud cover will move in late-day.

Friday will have calm weather with mostly clear skies and light winds. Temperatures will remain cool, it’ll look nice outside with blue sky but you’ll want a jacket with highs only in the upper 30s. During the trunk-or-treat event in Alpena, temperatures will cool from the lower 30s to the upper 20s.

Winds will increase over the weekend, but the wind direction will be more important because it affects how warm temperatures will become. Saturday, winds will come from the south at 15-20 mph, and provide warmer temperatures to Northeast Michigan.

A cold front will move through Northeast Michigan early Sunday. Winds will shift out of the northwest while strengthening and getting blustery — and bring colder temperatures.

Friday: Decreasing clouds, mostly sunny in the afternoon. Predawn temperatures will cool to the middle 20s. Afternoon highs will be near 38 degrees. Evening temperatures will cool to the lwoe 30s/upper 20s.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, then more evening cloud cover. Early-morning temperatures will become cold, in the middle 20s. Warmer temperatures will arrive for the afternoon, getting up to 48 degrees. Evening temperatures will settle in the lower 40s.

Sunday: Rain showers will change to snow showers late-day with dropping temperatures and strong winds.
