Warmer temperatures and sunshine on the way

Chilly temperatures remained in Northeast Michigan with winds coming out of the northwest. Highs reached 40 degrees in Alpena, 41 degrees in Saginaw, Michigan and 37 degrees in Cheboygan, Michigan. Winds will shift out of the west Thursday, that will help put an end to these much below-normal temperatures.


Temperatures will get up to around 50 degrees Thursday afternoon. It will continue getting warmer Friday with highs in the lower 60s. Then an incoming cold front Saturday will result in cooler temperatures. Highs will be in the middle 50s Saturday, then a return to cool temperatures Sunday with highs in the upper 40s.

Thursday and Friday, we’ll see some sunshine with completely dry weather expected. Cloud cover will increase Friday night to early Saturday. Saturday morning is looking dry, then our next storm system will be a cold front moving in from the west, bringing some showers late-day Saturday.

Thursday: Partly cloudy, a cool start before warmer temperatures move in. Predawn temperatures will drop to 23 degrees. Late-morning temperatures will climb to the upper 30s. High temperatures will reach about 50 degrees in the late-afternoon. Evening temperatures will cool to the 40s and upper 30s.

Friday: Partly cloudy and noticeably warmer. Early-morning temperatures will begin close to 33 degrees. Temperatures will rise to the lower 50s during the late-morning. Afternoon highs will get up to around 62 degrees. Evening temperatures will be in the 50s, then upper 40s late.

Saturday: Dry and mainly cloudy during the first half of the day, then showers arrive late-day. Predawn lows will be near 38 degrees. Afternoon highs will get close to 54 degrees. Evening temperatures will be in the upper/middle 40s.
