Warm temperatures will last through the weekend

High temperatures today warmed to 66 degrees in Alpena and 70 degrees in Mio. Shore line locations were cooler, highs were 61 degrees in Oscoda and 56 degrees in Rogers City. A breeze out of the southwest will keep the warm temperatures coming into our area Saturday.

Skies will be mostly clear tonight. Some cloud cover will move in early Saturday, then there will be a chance of showers midday. Otherwise the weekend forecast is looking mostly dry.

Looking back at April, the month was overall slightly cooler than normal and notably wetter than normal, mostly due to the recent rainstorm on April 29. Daily highs averaged to 50 degrees, which is 2 degrees colder than normal. The average of all the low temperatures throughout the month was 28 degrees, about 3 degrees colder than normal. Total precipitation for April totaled over 3 inches and that’s nearly 1 inch more than normal.

Overnight low temperatures will be near 42 degrees with mostly clear skies. Saturday morning will start with a mix of sun and clouds. A few showers are possible midday, but some breaks of sunshine should reappear in the afternoon. High temperatures will get up to 63 degrees and winds will come from the southwest at 10-15 mph. The evening will remain mild with temperatures in the middle 50s and partly cloudy skies.

Saturday will likely end up mostly dry although there is a midday chance of showers. High temperatures Saturday afternoon will reach the lower to middle 60s. Temperatures will remain somewhat warm on Sunday, early-morning lows will be in the lower 40s and afternoon highs will once again get up to the 60s. Monday will be mostly sunny and cooler with highs in the lower 50s.
