Warm temperatures and dry weather continue for the next few days

High temperatures Thursday reached 65 degrees in Alpena, 66 degrees in Saginaw, Mich., and 71 degrees in Chicago. Warm temperatures will remain across Northeast Michigan through the weekend and afternoon highs will approach 70 degrees.

Friday afternoon, temperatures will warm to 69 degrees. Highs will be near 70 degrees Saturday. Highs are forecast to reach the upper 60s Sunday. Temperatures will get close to 70 degrees Monday afternoon. After that, our next storm system will move in from the Plains, bringing showers Tuesday and much colder temperatures to follow on Wednesday.

Friday: Partly cloudy. Predawn temperatures will be in the lower 40s. Late-morning temperatures will climb to the upper 50s. Afternoon highs will be near 69 degrees. Evening temperatures will dip into the upper 50s.

Saturday: Mostly sunny and very warm. Predawn lows will be in the upper 40s. Temperatures will rise to about 60 degrees in the late-morning. Afternoon highs will get up to 70 degrees. Evening temperatures will be in the upper/middle 50s.

Sunday: Partly cloudy. Early-morning temperatures will be in the middle/upper 40s. Late-morning temperatures will be in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs will reach about 68 degrees. Evening temperatures will be around the upper 50s.

Elsewhere, previously-hurricane Eta is leaving central America and heading into the southern Caribbean. It’s heading on a path toward the northeast, likely to impact Cuba over the weekend. The forecast track will have to be monitored beyond the weekend, whether it heads north to Florida or turns toward the northwest, going into the Gulf of Mexico, early next week.
