Warm Fourth of July; Cooler, Refreshing End of the Week

High temperatures warmed up to 90 degrees today in many places across Northeastern Michigan. The main exception was along the shoreline of Lake Huron where a breeze out of the southeast kept temperatures a few degrees cooler. Similar temperatures will repeat tomorrow afternoon.

Sunny skies over Northern Michigan will give way to partly cloudy skies tomorrow. Some broken cloud over parts of the U.P. and Wisconsin will move towards Northern Michigan.

For the Fourth of July, skies will become partly cloudy by the afternoon. There is a low chance of a pop-up spotty shower west of Alpena, but most places should remain dry. Given the sunshine and the warmth, you will want to keep hydrated and protected from the sun when spending time outside.

A cold front will come through on Thursday, putting a temporary stop to the warmer-than-normal trend. After highs in the upper 80s Wednesday and Thursday, high temperatures will drop on Friday. Friday will feel refreshing with early-morning lows in the 50s and afternoon highs in the upper 70s. For the weekend, high temperatures will gradually warm into the mid-80s by Sunday.

Folks attending the Fourth of July parade or any of the festivals and activities around town will enjoy generally dry conditions with highs in the upper 80s. The upper 80s will continue into Thursday, but a chance of showers and thunderstorms will move through in the late-morning and afternoon along a cold front. The cold front will bring cooler temperatures on Friday, high temperatures will reach only into the upper 70s, giving the area a brief pause from the warmth. Sunshine is expected Friday and Saturday, and temperatures will warm into the 80s over the weekend.
