Warm and bright Thursday; Chance of showers early Friday

High temperatures today got up to 83 degrees in Alpena, 80 in Cheboygan and 84 in Saginaw with plenty of sunshine throughout the day. Winds were coming from the northwest, there was not much influence of cooler temperatures coming off of Lake Huron except at the immediate shoreline.

Looking the Gulf of Mexico, Tropical Storm Cristobal near the Yucatan Peninsula is moving very slowly. Over the next couple days, it will eventually track to the north and move into central areas of the Gulf of Mexico Saturday. The latest forecast has Cristobal making landfall late Sunday along the Louisiana coast.

Overnight lows will cool to about 51 degrees. Thursday will be mostly sunny. Morning temperatures will be in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees. Afternoon highs will reach about 78 degrees. Winds will be coming from the east around 5-10 mph, so temperatures at the Lake Huron shoreline will be cooler.

Thursday will be bright with highs in the upper 70s. A cold front will move in Friday, that will provide a chance of showers in the morning and afternoon. High temperatures will reach the upper 70s Friday. Following the cold front, temperatures will become cooler over the weekend. Highs will be in the lower 70s Saturday, then upper 60s Sunday.
