Warm All Week; Stormy Start to Friday

Northeast Michiganders have been enjoying abundant sunshine and light winds all day, brought by a high pressure system directly overhead. There are some changes to our weather pattern on the way, as a warm front will pass to the north Thursday—increasing humidity levels across the area, followed closely by a cold front Friday—bringing showers and thunderstorms.

High temperatures today reached the lower 80s for most areas around Northeast Michigan. A breeze out of the south will bump up high temperatures tomorrow into the mid-80s.

Tomorrow will start with mostly sunny skies in the morning and temperatures in the mid-60s. Clouds will increase during the afternoon as temperatures warm to a high of 85 degrees in Alpena. Mostly cloudy skies tomorrow evening will give way to a chance of rain after midnight.

Chances of rain will climb Thursday night, and the highest chance of rain over the next few days will move through Friday morning and afternoon, along with a risk of thunderstorms. After the cold front (pictured in the satellite image above) passes through, rain chances will drop as dry weather moves in this weekend.

For tomorrow, most of the day should remain dry with increasing clouds and high temperatures warming into the mid-80s, then the chance of rain will climb after midnight. Friday will start mild and damp with a risk of thunderstorms, then afternoon temperatures will warm into the lower 80s with skies drying out in the evening. The weekend forecast calls for partly skies and high temperatures heating up to near 90 degrees.
