Vikings defeat Wildcats despite two goals by Macy Dickinson

Alpena junior Macy Dickinson scores two goals versus Cadillac.

Alpena, Mich. — The Alpena Wildcats hosted the Cadillac Vikings girls soccer team for senior night. This marked the last regular season home game for goalkeeper Alexandria Villarreal, midfielders Alexis Pilarski, Mollie Girard and Emma Kelly and defender Taylor Tolsdorf. The Wildcats were down at halftime, for the first time this season, 3-0.

The green and white clawed back in the second half. Anna Young dished out an assist to Macy Dickinson for the junior-to-junior connection to put the Wildcats on the board down 4-1. Dickinson added another goal off a corner kick, but the Vikings led by senior Karli Scott topped Alpena 6-2. The Cadillac senior finished the game with a hat trick, followed by Bella Smith’s two goals.

Up next, the Wildcats travel to Traverse City West on Thursday before taking on Petoskey next Friday, May 24th for the District Quarterfinals.

After the game Alpena Athletic Director Tim Storch let us know, thanks to private donations, Wildcat Stadium will have a turf field starting next season. The new field will be called Park Family Field.
