Vaccination rally held in Lansing

LANSING, Mich. – Michigan residents gathered in Lansing over the weekend to voice their concerns about mandated vaccinations.

With covid cases rising, so are tensions about the vaccine — as more places both in Michigan and across the country are requiring vaccinations and masks.

Hundreds of people protested outside the state capitol building.

One protester says mandates aren’t necessary.

“Everybody should have the right to choose for themselves on whether or not they want to the vaccine,” said protester Melinda Marlatt. “I know everybody in my family and my friends are highly educated people, and some have chose to get it for their own health reasons and some have chose not to get it for their own health reasons, and this what this is really about.”

Students from Michigan State University also spoke at the rally in response to the university’s current vaccine mandate.
