USPS features Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary in new “Forever Stamp Collection”

ALPENA, MI. – For Stewardship and Education Specialist, Daniel Moffatt, today is an “exciting day” as it marks the launch of the USPS “Forever Stamp Collection”, which features the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary.

CEO and President of the Marine Sanctuary Foundation, Kris Sarri, said the new collection celebrates majestic seascapes and wildlife. “The stamp collection brings these marvelous places and species to life in these pictures. What better way to share these wonders than to use the “Forever Stamp Collection” to share these wonderful places with the rest of the world?”

Art director Greg Breeding designed the pane using existing photographs. A map of the National Marine Sanctuary System illustrated by Todd M. Detwiler is printed on the back of the pane.

“The mission of the National Marine Sanctuary is to protect and preserve the oceans and Great Lakes. The feature from the USPS  is just another great way to bring attention to that mission.” said Moffatt.

The stamps resemble an effort to raise a national spotlight to the sanctuary and help preserve its value to communities for years to come.
