US government pours $1 million into Oscoda’s water crisis
ALPENA, Mich. – A hefty chunk of money will soon help residents of Iosco County recover from the PFAS problem.
One million dollars will fall into the hands of commissioners working to connect clean drinking water to homes affected by contaminated groundwater in Oscoda Township.
The US Department of Agriculture will split the funds into two checks.
Contractors broke ground in August to install municipal water pipelines in the hardest hit areas. They expect to wrap up Phase One of the project by the end of this month.
The secured million will help fund the remaining four phases of getting families off contaminated well water.
