The Alpena Resource Recovery Facility will be hosting a Countywide Clean-Up Day. It’s a day dedicated to cleaning up our city. Thanks to the Alpena Resource Recovery Facility, residents will be able to get rid of various unwanted items.
“The reason we’re hosting it is to keep furniture and appliances, rubbish, out of the ditches and fields around the county,” says Brad Mousseau, Supervisor.
The event will help keep Alpena beautiful, and a lot of homes less cluttered. Plus a lot of items, such as tires, will be recycled.
“The furniture unfortunately does end up in the landfill but the appliances and the tires will be recycled.” Said Mousseau. “We send the tires down to environmental rubber and they shred them and make them into new tires. Then the appliances we send over to the scrap yard and they recycle them as they do.”
They’ll be accepting all household furniture, appliances, up to ten tires per household, and two televisions per household. (Absolutely…no hazardous material will be accepted).
Clean–up day will take place on Saturday, may 6th from 8am until 1pm. It is free for residents who’ve already paid. The recycling surcharge. But if you haven’t, you can pay the fee on Clean– Up Day.
