United Way receives hospice giving award

ALPENA, Mich.– United Way of Northeast Michigan received an award Friday.

In a ceremony at 3:30 Friday afternoon, the employees of United Way’s Alpena office received a pin from Hospice of Michigan. The pin inducts them into the Delores Bos Crystal Rose Society for Lifetime Giving to Hospice. Organizations in Michigan receive this recognition after donating 50,000 dollars or more to hospice care services.

Joe Gentry, executive director at United Way, says he’s flattered to receive the award.

“United Way represents all of our donors, and I’m sure that our donor base is extremely satisfied and gratified because hospice is one of our community investment partners and has been for a long time because of the great service that they bring to our community.”

The award is named for the late wife of a Hospice of Michigan board member. The pin is modeled after her sketches.
