United Methodist runs community egg hunt

ALPENA, Mich.– Kids made quick work of the Easter egg hunt at United Methodist Church Saturday morning.

The church opened the event to the entire Alpena community, whether they were congregants or not.

Church member and organizer Pauline Buchner said safety was at the forefront of their minds. The church asked adults to wear masks and sign in for contact tracing.

Buchner said seeing kids happy made it worthwhile.

“The favorite part of the day [for me] was watching them come in as they were excited to be here. We were so pleased that we had a good turnout.”

It took kids less than 10 minutes from the starting whistle to find all the eggs.

Pastor Seok Lim said even though it took a lot of effort, it felt like the right thing to do for the community.

“We like to see community children gathered together in happiness and in safety. Celebrating the Easter day.”

Pastor Lim added that he’s thankful for all the volunteers who made the day happen.
