Unique position at Alcona County Jail
ALCONA COUNTY, Mich. — Like any county jail staffing is extremely important. You have everyone from your administrative staff to your deputies as well as your sheriff but at Alcona County Jail, there is one employee whose role is just as important.
Bailey, who is Sheriff Scott Stephenson’s husky, serves as a comforter to the employees at the jail.
Stephenson and Bailey met in an unexpected way. A gentleman was arrested for operating under the influence which landed Bailey in the local humane society. The humane society called Stephenson to find Bailey a new home. Stephenson was reluctant because of the loss of his husky in 2018 but when the two met, they were inseparable.
Bailey attends commissioner’s meetings and her daily job duties include checking all of the different offices to see who has snacks for her.
