U.S. Census Bureau launches statewide door-to-door effort in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — If you haven’t responded to the 2020 Census survey, you can expect to receive a knock at your door.  Today, the Census Bureau kicked off a statewide door-to-door effort to follow-up with people who have not yet responded.

Michigan Census Director Kerry Ebersole-Singh said Census takers will only visit the homes of people who have not completed the Census by mail, phone or online.

“The census takers are going to be asking those nine questions, and it only takes a few minutes,” said Ebersole-Singh.

The Census survey is conducted every 10 years and you are required by law to respond to the questionnaire.  Ebersole-Singh said completion of the survey is the easiest and best action Michiganders can take to help their community.

Door-to-door outreach efforts will continue through September 30.  To take the Census survey online visit www.michigan.gov/census2020.
