That’s how long Deputy Clerk, Treasurer, and Financial Director; Julie Krajniak has worked for the city of Alpena.
It’s been a long time coming but if you ask Krajniak and City Clerk Treasurer Finance Director, Karen Hebert, the two ladies will tell you their job has truly been a journey.
“I actually can remember the day that I came here for my interview for the job. I have a very clear memory of that. I can’t not believe how fast 37 years have gone,” Krajniak said.
Working for the City of Alpena for over 19 years, Hebert said she couldn’t wait to spend time with loved ones.
“I want to do some projects that we haven’t had time to do, so I’m looking forward to that. I have a lot of nieces and nephews downstate so I hope to get down there and see some sports that they play in,” Hebert said.
And if you think throwing in the towel is the end for these two ladies, think again, they both have plans to volunteer.
“My heart is with the humane society, and I’m going to look at other areas too but first I’m going to take off and then look at other areas I can help,” Hebert added.
As for tips for the new hires…
“It takes time to learn the job, be patient, work hard and do your best everyday to move the department and the city forward in a positive direction,” Krajniak said.
