Trial postponed for suspects in alleged Whitmer plot

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The trial for five of the federal suspects arrested in the alleged plot to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer has been postponed.

The original trial for Adam Fox, Kaleb Franks, Daniel Harris, Brandon Caserta and Barry Croft was originally set for March 23, however has been moved back seven months until Oct. 12. The postponement is to give defense lawyers more time to receive and analyze evidence.

In October, a group of extremists upset with Whitmer’s pandemic restrictions allegedly made a plot to kidnap the governor. However, the FBI broke up their plot and charged six in federal court. One of the six, Ty Garbin, pleaded guilty in January and agreed to cooperate with prosecutors.
