Township To Purchase New Tax Software
At a special Alpena Township Board of Trustees meeting tonight (12/12) it was decided that the township will move forward with the purchase of a new $65,000 tax software.
The topic arose during last weeks meeting, however a vote on the purchase was delayed until tonight so trustees could further look into costs.
There are currently several township departments that use the BS&A software, but with the township office lacking the program, there is no easy way for everyone to stay connected.
Therefore it was voted on tonight to transfer nearly $7,000 from the Township Postage Fund, in order to cover the roughly $19,000 down payment for the program.
Transferring fund from postage will mean the township will no longer send out paid tax receipts to residents -Those will now only be sent upon request.
