Thundery 13th; Warmer This Weekend

Some patchy rain has showered northeast Michigan this afternoon, though some heavier downpours and a risk of thunderstorms will enter with a cold front moving in tonight.

High temperatures this afternoon reached 80 degrees in Alpena, and similar temperatures were reached across the Sunrise Side. Temperatures will warm through the weekend, climbing into the upper 80s.

For tomorrow, periods of rain and a couple of thunderstorms may rumble mainly in the morning and afternoon. Temperatures in the morning will start close to 70 degrees. By the afternoon, temperatures will warm to 84 degrees in Alpena. Showers should move east of the area tomorrow evening, as temperatures cool into the mid-70s. About a half-inch of much needed rainfall is expected across Northeast Michigan; some areas may receive a little less, and localized areas caught under heavier downpours may receive a little more rainfall.

Drier weather will move in Saturday despite a low chance of a few spotty showers south of Alpena, and high temperatures will warm to 87 degrees. The warmest temperatures are forecast on Sunday with a high of 89 degrees. The next cold front will bring showers and a risk of thunderstorms on Monday and cooler temperatures for the upcoming week. High temperatures will drop to the lower 80s Monday and upper 70s Tuesday.

Tomorrow will start damp and possibly thundery, and high temperatures will warm up to the lower and middle 80s. Saturday should be mainly dry, except for a low chance of showers south of Alpena, with warmer temperatures. Partly cloudy skies are in the mix for Sunday with high temperatures heating up to the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. A couple of showers or thunderstorms are forecast on Monday along with cooler afternoon temperatures.
