Thunder Bay Theater says farewell to lobby before renovations

A local organization is getting a much needed face-lift thanks to the generosity of donors.

The Thunder Bay Theater lobby will undergo some major renovations beginning this weekend, but not before a final farewell.

Creative Director, Jeffrey Mindock, says he’s looking forward to the celebration.

“This weekend, on Saturday at 5 o’clock, we are welcoming our community into this lobby for one last time to say ‘bon voyage’ and whether that is putting some paint on the walls or just enjoying a hot cup of apple cider with your friends, we know that there are a lot of parents and grandparents and students and actors who have enjoyed their time in this lobby over the past 25, 30 years and we want to give them one last time to say goodbye before it looks completely brand new for the summer season.”

Mindock says the renovation will take about 10 weeks, but a little dust won’t stop the show from going on.

“The theater will be open during construction. All of our performances are going to be executed as normal. We’re going to have a slightly different box office set up that we’re going to let everyone know about.”

Community members can stop by from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday to take part in the festivities. Tickets are $10 at the door.
