Thunder Bay Junior High 8th Graders Enjoy a Trip to College

8th Graders at Thunder Bay Junior High School were up bright and early for a day full of education outside of the classroom. The students took all day trips downstate on Friday, and Monday to visit college campuses they may call home in just a few years.

A lot of the students have never stepped foot outside of Alpena. The college tours will show them that there’s more in the land of opportunity. More students traveled to other colleges on Monday.

Groups visited Saginaw Valley State University, Ferris State University, Lake Superior State University and Central Michigan University. Students were placed based on their career path choices. The trips were sponsored by Northeast Michigan Community Foundation, The Alpena Career and College Access Network, and the Besser Company.
