Three Wildcats qualify for girls golf regionals

Alpena — Three girls high school golfers qualified for Division 2 regionals in Traverse City: senior Brynna Smith, sophomore Kennedy Ellis and freshman Gianna Bolda.
“I think it’s a great accomplishment,” said Smith. “What’s even better is each year I’ve gone back, my score has improved. I just like seeing that I’m improving each year and still achieving that goal.”
The Wildcats will compete for a chance to qualify for state on October 10th at the Grand Traverse Resorts’ Spruce Run course.
“I just love it you know,” said Ellis. “Everyday you can come out and show your colors and be out there to represent, especially not knowing whether we would have a team or not. To go out and know that we got to be able to do that and we can play for green and white is amazing.”
